Gen Z is the first generation to be born fully in the digital world — and it shows. Many turn to AI companions like Replika and CarynAI for emotional support, highlighting a growing demand for connection in an increasingly disconnected world.
But this digital reliance comes at a cost. A recent BMC Psychology study shows that loneliness and unhealthy social media use create a dangerous loop:
